FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a totally natural phenomenon and is a particularly pleasant
state of relaxation and concentration at one with a state of heightened
awareness induced by suggestion. It is a non-addictive power for the good
and is a natural manifestation of the mind at work.
Are drugs used?
No.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes, except persons with learning difficulties, although of course the
degree varies from person to person. The only other exceptions would be
persons 'high' on the effects of alcohol or drugs
Will I remember what happened?
Yes. Most people are surprised to find that they remember all that happens
during the therapy; after all, it is a state of heightened awareness.
So I won;t actually be asleep then?
No. Simply very relaxed.
Is there any cause for concern at all?
None whatsoever. Hypnosis is a proven therapeutic aid. The only time
hypnosis could prove dangerous is whilst driving or using machinery. You
should not use it under those circumstances.
Can I speak whilst in Hypnosis?
Yes and in Analysis and in HypnoHealing you will be encouraged to do so.
How many visits will I need?
Less complex treatments such as Smoking Cessation, Examination nerves,
Driving Test nerves etc usually require one or, rarely two sessions and the
success rate is surprisingly high. The more deep-rooted nervous disorders
may respond best to a combination of analytical therapy and other therapies.
Where HypnoHealing (NLP) is indicated in addition, these sessions are
usually three to five sessions of additional duration. Where EFT is
employed, clients are trained in the self-application of these techniques.
Simple Phobias usually require a minimum of three sessions in addition to
any analytical therapy employed. In all cases, each individual circumstance
will always determine the number of sessions required.
Can I be influenced to do anything against my will?
No, and in fact you would be shocked out of the hypnotic state should such a
thing happen. All IAH therapists undergo strict background checks and adhere
to code of ethics so this need not be a concern to you.

What is HypnoAnalysis?
The objective of this therapy is to discover and remove the cause of the
problem or symptom or anxiety using Free Association with Hypnosis.
HypnoAnalysis can be summarised briefly as the doctrine of 'cause and
effect'; every effect (the symptom) must have a cause. HypnoAnalysis will
find and release the cause of the problem - and hence the symptoms
disappear. Emotional problems respond particularly well to HynoAnalysis. The
object of analysis is to bring you to a 'moment of surprising and liberating
enlightenment', and one can be fairly confident of a release within ten or
so sessions of therapy. With analytical therapy, the objective is the
complete and lasting release, by finding and removing the originating
causes, as opposed to mere control of symptoms. Analytical therapy usually
consists of 7 to 10 separate weekly sessions, each of about 50 minutes
duration. The maximum number of sessions may not exceed 12 without
permission of Hon Secretary the IAH.

What is HypnoHealing (NLP)?
The late Bill Atkinson-Ball was the wonderful originator of Hypno Healing in
1960. He correctly proposed that mind and body heal themselves and honed the
technique into a complete system of using direct and dynamic methods to
galvanise the client's subconscious mind to alter the physical processes
within the body. With the exception of your heart and brain, there is no
cell in your body that is more than nine months old. Your stomach lining
replaces itself every four days. Your liver cells renew themselves every six
weeks. So the body is changing all the time. Because the natural
self-healing stems from the subconscious mind, it is easy to see that
hypnotherapy has a head start, allowing direct communication with the
subconscious and persuading it to concentrate extra focused healing effort
on the affected area of the body concerned. In HypnoHealing, the
subconscious mind is re-conditioned to create the expectation and belief
that the return to good health is an entitlement rather than a matter of
faith, hope or charity. NLP enables conversations with these benevolent
caretakers of our being to alter the way in which we deal with our lives.
Change can be quick and painless process instead of a long drawn out one. Of
course, one does occasionally employ a mixture of these therapies to suit
the needs of individual clients.

STOP SMOKING
Can you make me stop?
No one can make you do anything! Once you have decided to quit, however, I
can make living your life as a non-smoker a painless, gratifying and
rewarding experience that will, over time, save you a small fortune and
possibly your life itself.
Does it really work?
Yes of course! No matter how long you have smoked or how many you smoke a
day, you can realise your dream of becoming a contented non-smoker with all
the benefits that it bestows.
Do you sympathise with smokers?
Very much! I myself smoked for many years until, with the help of my tutor;
I became my own first Smoking Cessation client, well over a decade ago and
have never had cause to regret it.
What if I start again?
You must accept the responsibility for that. If you decide to light one up,
I have not the power to send a lightening bolt from the sky to knock it from
your mouth. But, nevertheless, I will provide a booster session, if
necessary, free of charge during the first year of your new life.
